I felt to share some of the things that the Lord has been speaking to me these days, and this is part 2. I’m splitting it in 3 parts to make reading easier – since I’ve got the (slight) tendency to write too much (or talk too much :) .

But before I go on, I’d just like to mention that i shared about these things with someone from Portugal, and the person told me that the Lord was talking to her on the same scripture! And yesterday I also found out that my pastor shared on the exact same things to our church in Brazil on Sunday. I believe that this is just a small confirmation that God is really saying these things. not only in a local level, but that it’s something that applies to the whole Body.

In part 1 I shared about the time of the rebuilding of the temple in the book of Ezra, when the priests laid the foundations of the temple and there was a confused cry coming from the people because of their divided heart. It is essential that we have the same values as the Lord, and that our eyes and our hearts be engaged in what He is doing now.

There’s something so interesting to be noticed when reading the report of Ezra and Nehemiah about this season of Israel’s History. The responsibility for building was especially in the hands of two groups, that were heading all of the process, and that were also the most attacked ones. The first tribe or people was the people of Judah. After them, the people of Benjamin. I’m sure that there are reasons in the political configuration of the nation in the time that would explain the fact that the writers specified Judah and Benjamin in the accounts, but those technical reasons are not very important for us right now. However, i do believe that behind them there is something essential for us.

The name “Judah”, that is pronounced in Hebrew “Yehudah”, comes from the root “Hodeh”, that might mean “thank” (in modern Hebrew), but that in Biblical Hebrew is one of the words used to describe worship or praise. When Judah was born, his mother said “now, I will praise the Lord”, and she named him Judah.

The name “Benjamin”, that is pronounced in Hebrew “Binyamin”, is made of two words: “Ben” that means “Son”, and “Yamin” which means “right” (in the sense of “Right Hand”) therefore the translation of the name is “Son of My Right Hand”.

Ha! I think this is awesome! The two names mentioned as the responsible for the building and Restoration of the Glory of God to Israel were Judah and Benjamin!

Beloveds I believe that in our days the weight of responsibility and the privilege still rest upon the same group of people: Those who spend their lives in worship, and those who are gripped with the revelation of the fatherhood of God!

There is nothing more powerful that an army of sons and daughters determined to exalt the goodness of God! There is nothing that could accomplish the work set before us other then the fearless love of children that only know how to rejoice in their Father’s heart, and that are not contaminated by the “oldness” of complaint or by the wrinkles of weariness. People from all ages that have their eyes focused in possessing the kingdom of heaven, and that even in the midst of the greatest battles know how to war singing “He is Good and His mercy endures FOREVER!”. I believe that never before that has been such emphasis from the Holy Spirit on these things – worship and fatherhood. That’s because these are the very things that will push this generation forward.

It’s interesting to see in the first verse of chapter 4 in Ezra, that says “When the enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the descendants of the captivity were building the temple of the Lord…”. In Hebrew, the expression “Descendants of the Captivity” is “Bnei haGolah” that literally means “sons of Captivity”. And this is a reality that tries to take hold of our thoughts and our lives – that we are “sons of captivity”. It’s so interesting that the these very tribes – the sons who worship – still had their identity grounded on the place they had come out of, instead of the place that they were in now.

I’ve got many friends here in Israel that came from all over the world back to their land. However, when you talk to many of them, you can realise that many of them still perceive their identity according to the place where they came out of (Russia, Ukraine, Argentina, Brazil, USA), instead of having their identity defined by the place where they are now (Israel).

I believe that spiritually the same thing happens to us. We have our identities grounded in the “captivity” out of which we were taken, instead of the “heavenly places” in which according to the Word we are ALREADY seated. Beloveds i believe that this is again about the renewing of our minds. Our identity as a people is not to be a group of people hiding in fear of the world waiting for the kingdom the come and rescue us from darkness. Our real position is to be seated with Christ in heavenly places, cooperating with Him in prayer and action in the wonder of ushering his Kingdom into Earth.

Just to finish it off, here are some verses that we know so well: “And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free”, and some verses down “If the Son sets you free, you are free indeed” (John 8). I love the Hebrew language because it’s so expressive! In the translation from Greek to Hebrew of this verse, this is how it goes: “And if the Son sets you free, indeed you will be Sons of Freedom”. HA! That’s it! To know the truth about ourselves before God transforms us from “sons of captivity” into “sons of freedom”. Beloveds that’s our true identity. So let’s group all of our beings in the place where we are right now, that was purchased for us with a high price, and no longer in the place we came out of.

HA! ;)

I believe that more than ever we’re living in a season that is extremely significant. Never before was there a time like the one we’re in right now. This is a season that is sometimes hard to comprehend , in which both delighting in God’s goodness and presence and also working hard and building are essential. It’s as if the opposites got united in this time in the Kingdom allowing us to move a great deal forward.

The Lord’s been speaking to me a lot about this time, and I want to share some of the things I’ve been feeling. I think I’ll post it in three parts, just so that it won’t be a gigantic text. So, here goes part 1:

When the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the LORD, the priests stood in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites, the sons of Asaph, with cymbals, to praise the LORD, according to the ordinance of David king of Israel. And they sang responsively, praising and giving thanks to the LORD: “For [He is] good, For His mercy [endures] forever toward Israel.” Then all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. But many of the priests and Levites and heads of the fathers’ [houses], old men who had seen the first temple, wept with a loud voice when the foundation of this temple was laid before their eyes. Yet many shouted aloud for joy, so that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people, for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the sound was heard afar off.” (Ezra 3:10-13 NKJV)

The people was coming back from captivity to rebuild the temple and reestablish the glory of God in Jerusalem before all nations. Ezra 3, from verse 10 on, talks about the reaction of the people when the foundations of the temple were laid. In that moment there was an explosion of worship from the heart of the people, and they proclaimed the goodness and grace of God. However, their hearts were divided. The older people, who had seen the glory of Solomon’s temple, thought that the foundations of this new temple were small and insignificant. Because they had their eyes turned towards the past, to what God had done once, to the form and exuberance of Solomon’s temple, they failed to recognize the simplicity of what God was doing.

I believe that is one of our greatest challenges in this present season. Many of us are with our eyes turned towards the things that have happened in the past, to the glory of the things behind, and we’re failing to recognize the simplicity of what God is doing today. I’ve been asking myself constantly what really is revival or awakening? Who is it that needs to be revived? Is it God? Or us? You know, revival is not an outpouring of the Spirit from Heaven, because that has already happened. The Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost, and at this very moment the person of the Holy Spirit is not in Heaven, but right here with us on Earth. Revival is us being awakened to that reality. Revival is us realizing that “Christ in Us” is already a reality. It’s recognizing His presence. You know, the question is not “how much of God’s presence is here?” But, “Of how much of God’s presence am I aware?”. Sometimes we set our eyes on the past moves and on the things that have already happened, and we can only cry and mourn over what’s going on right now. But we’ve got to be flexible “new wine-skins”, knowing that He is always moving in different ways…

And, if the Holy Spirit has already been poured down to Earth on the Day of Pentecost, from where will He be poured out in the revival at the end of the age that we’ve been waiting for so long? HE WILL BE POURED OUT FROM INSIDE OF US. From our bellies will flow rivers of living waters. If we only believe. You know most of the times that we’re fighting for God to open the heavens in reality we’re just beating thin air under an open heaven – because the heavens are already opened. What needs to open now is our hearts. What needs to be transformed is our minds. Oh, there is so much power when we agree with what happened on the cross. That is the breakthrough that we need: to be in agreement with Jesus in this season – it’s the renewing of our minds!

The lack of agreement in the heart of the people birthed a confused message. It was not possible to tell the difference between the voice of joy and worship, from the voice of weeping and complaining of the people. People passing by could not tell what was going on. I believe that the same thing is happening in our days. Many voices are raising up recognizing the goodness and mercy of God, and at the same time many voices are dissatisfied with the simplicity of what God is doing.

Beloveds, the division in the heart of the people was the gap that allowed the enemy to stop the work for about 14 years, until the Lord raised Zachariah and Haggai to encourage the leaders of the people to carry on and build. I believe it’s time for the prophetic voices to star exhorting the people to build and move forward. Their message was “Do not despise the day of small beginnings” and “I will fill this temple with Glory”. Oh, that is so precious. It’s time for the voices to raise up not with a pessimistic message of destruction, but like Haggai proclaim “My Spirit is with you, do not fear!”.

We’re living the days of the greatest opportunities for advancements that we’ve ever lived. And in our hands as a generation lays the responsibility and the privilege of “building” the will of God in this Earth. Beloveds, let’s not loose heart. Let’s continue on. Let’s build on.

I don’t think that there’s any better way to describe it. I am so grateful. I just thought i’d say that today.
