balance.

What a season we’re all in! This is a time of testing, of getting things in order, of living out on a day-to-day step-by-step mode all of those things that still are easier said than done.

I cannot help but face this season as a major door the Lord has opened for all of us to graduate level, so to speak. He so desires for us to go deeper. He is so longing to see us succeed in our adventure of seeing His Kingdom -eternal, unshakable, wonderful Kingdom – brought to earth through little you and little me. He desires a mature bride. He desires a people who’s ready. So, don’t face this season with a defeat mentality. This is what we’ve all been praying for, so let’s “man up” to this already! =)

Ran across something interesting today.

Hosea 11:7 – “My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, none at all exalt Him.”

wow.

This is so true of us sometimes, especially in these seasons of testing and fire. We might call on the Most High. We might call on Him day and night. We might fast and pray and weep. And, don’t get me wrong – our Daddy God is so full of love and compassion, He’s always pleased with tears and cries of desperation. Few things capture a father’s heart more than a son sincerely asking for help. But there is a different side to this reality, that we easily forget – to exalt Him.

Hosea says they were bent on backsliding, and then it gives the reason. They might have called on God in their desperation, but they had not exalted Him. They had not mixed their cry with faith. They had not mixed their desperation with hope. And these may seem absolutely contradictory realities, but they’re not.

So many times in this season I’ve found myself crying out to God one minute, and laughing over his victory the next, and crying out again the very next.

Here’s our biggest challenge for this season: remaining connected to the sense of our eternal and urgent need of His intervention in everything we set our hearts to – and at the same time, trusting His eternal grace and sovereignty, that He is able to do much more than we could ever think or ask for.

So in this season, let us Cry out to the Most High, AND Exalt Him as the Most High. Balance is the word that will guard our emotions in order.

Blessings!
